An afternoon with Hugo Award recipient G. Willow Wilson and New York Times Bestselling author Jonathan Evison discussing their first-hand experiences with book banning and challenges against the right to read. Wilson's Ms. Marvel has been challenged and removed from school libraries in multiple districts, typically targeted for its portrayal of a Muslim-American teenage girl. Evison's Lawn Boy was one of the most challenged books in America in 2021 and 2022 per the American Library Association, banned in school districts across the country for its depiction of a young gay Mexican-American man.

Jonathan Evison

Jonathan Evison is the author of the novels All About Lulu; West of Here; The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving; This Is Your Life, Harriet Chance!; Lawn Boy; and Legends of the North Cascades. He lives with his wife and family in Washington State.

G. Willow Wilson is an American comics writer, prose author, and essayist. Her work is most often categorized as magical realism. Wilson's prose works include the novels Alif the Unseen, which won the 2013 World Fantasy Award for "Novel", and The Bird King.
